Shown are nearly 1,800 buildings, all built within a 3 month period, and now all are gone: 
burnt - destroyed - sold and removed.

Looks to the North. 
Includes Wakeman General Hospital and area south of Hospital Road. 
83rd Division was in the area south of Hospital Road, and would have been in that area at the time the photo was taken. 
Shows HOSPITAL ROAD and SCHOOLHOUSE ROAD (in the far distance).
